1. Overtime Pay: California law requires employers to pay qualifying employees 1.5x times their regular rate of pay for any hours worked in excess of 8 per day or 40 per week or 2x times their pay for any hours worked over 12 in a day.
2. Rest Breaks: Employers are required to provide non-exempt employees with 10-minute rest breaks for every 4 hours worked.
3. Meal Breaks: Employers are required to provide non-exempt employees with an uninterrupted 30-minute meal break for every 5 hours worked.
4. Minimum Wage: As of January 1, 2021, California’s minimum wage is $14 per hour for businesses with 26 or more employees, and $13 per hour for businesses with 25 or fewer employees.
5. Pay Stub Disclosure Requirements: California employers are required to provide wage statements or pay stubs to all employees detailing gross wages, deductions, net pay and specific hours worked.
6. Pay Day Notice Requirements: California employers must provide employees with a notice that outlines when their next payday will be.
